Celebrity Style : Black & White Stripes

Elizabeth | Sleeveless Kimono Striped Dress

When Shelley showed me this photo of Christina Hendricks last week, I'm ashamed to say that I didn't quite recognize her. (I'm a big fan of Mad Men.) Rather, the first thing that popped into my head was, "Who is that gorgeous woman wearing our "Elizabeth" dress?" I blame the lack of recognition on her hair. I've hardly ever seen Hendricks with her hair down, tousled and with the air of a free spirit. It suits her!

I love this black and white striped dress on her, too. There's an effortless quality to the design that makes me feel as though you could wear the piece during the day while typing up reports, or you could wear it at night to dinner or a concert. The sash provides a great way to cinch the waist and show off your curves! Plus, the black and white color combo means you don't have to hunt for matching shoes. Oh, and if there's a new shade of red lipstick you've been aching to try, this would be the outfit to pair it with!

Emilie

Behind the Scenes: San Diego Blogger Love

Ontario | Color Block Handbag
Rodos | Snakeskin Shoulder Clutch Bag

These photos were taken last month when I had the opportunity to tag along on a photo shoot for the Smile for Style blog, created by the lovely and charismatic Chesley, who featured several handbags from Questhaven. I had been looking for San Diego based bloggers to collaborate with, and when I found her site I immediately fell in love with the way she was able to arrange a variety of pieces into fabulous looks. After several email exchanges, we soon discovered that we lived only a few blocks away from each other! (Small world, right?)

Chesley has tons of experience in the fashion world, and I've enjoyed picking her brain about various aspects of the business, as well as watching her effortless poses! On the day of the shoot, I was also able to meet Junk & PO founder Krissy, who is an exceptionally talented artist and photographer, as well as a fellow San Diegan. In summary, I can't wait to work with these amazing girls again!

Olympic Fever

Kaleigh | Red Fitted Sheath Dress
Angelica | White Strapless Eyelet Asymmetrical Dress
Cora | Navy High Low Hem Striped Dress

Wow! Can you believe there are only a few more days left of the Olympics? Have you been watching as fervently as I have? Is your dvr almost filled to capacity?

It has been incredibly inspiring watching all of these amazing athletes from so many different disciplines compete. They work so hard day in and day out, and only once every 4 years do they get to attend the biggest sporting event in the world to show off their skills and shine for their country!

I can't even imagine what it takes to be that determined and focused. When I read about the workout routines and diets of these Olympians, I am rendered speechless. 6 hours a day x 6 days a week to train! Plus all of the mental training to stay in the zone and stick to a game plan! It definitely makes me think twice before I complain about running an extra mile or giving in to midnight munchies! (Have you seen the abs on those track stars?)
