Southern California knows not the distinct change of seasons the way other climates do. Nevertheless, a stroll today through an avenue of deciduous trees at a local park allowed autumn to display the full effect of its glow. It reminded me of a poem I heard as a child titled "Autumn Fires" by Robert Louis Stevenson.

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The gray smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

Yes, fires in the fall! And on full display in our clothing, to mimic and embrace the new season!

Cheers to fashion,
Emilie
